Rehearsal Sticker of Drama school students Performing

Shizaru, the fourth monkey of the fable does ‘nothing other than good.’ This forms the central tenet of our mission at Fourth Monkey as an arts organisation.

Whether as a higher education provider training actors and creatives; a producing house delivering emerging new work; or through our extensive community outreach work and collaboration - our goal is to effect positive and lasting change in all we do and with all those with whom we work.

Given the precarious state of the arts and culture sector and the current cost of living crisis, there has never been a more urgent need to support emerging artists and creatives - especially those in, or about to embark on, professional training.

Becoming a Friend and Supporter of Fourth Monkey means you will directly support the livelihoods and future generation of artists and creatives in the UK. Our scheme is designed to increase accessibility to training and employment in the sector and is targeted at supporting those most in need of that support.

I am so grateful for receiving a scholarship from Fourth Monkey. As an older student who has come from working full-time, I worried I would be juggling work and studying but this hasn't been so. The scholarship has allowed me to focus fully on Fourth Monkey, without the financial pressures and worries I would have had to endure without it

- Hannah B.

We are the originators of the No-Fee Drama School audition and have awarded over £350,000 of scholarships since 2010.

The generosity of our supporters will enable our work to reach even more young people and provide bursaries and scholarships to support course fees and living costs for students facing financial hardship. Every donation directly benefits those in need of support.

The Friends Fund supports the following schemes:

  • Travel Bursaries - for those requiring assistance accessing in-person recall auditions for our undergraduate and postgraduate training

  • Scholarships – a financial award contribution toward student course fees

  • Student Living Bursary – a financial bursary award to support student living whilst in training

  • Artist Development Bursary – designed for graduates embarking on the creation of original work alongside Fourth Monkey mentorship and free rehearsal space.

As a supporter of our unique Scholarship and Bursary programme, you'll enjoy a range of benefits including complementary tickets to performances, such as showcase and graduation, alongside invitations to exclusive events and gatherings.

We are immensely grateful for all levels of contribution (any amount can be pledged at any time) and anonymity is carefully respected, if requested.

We kindly ask you to consider donating on an annual basis, which helps us to forward plan and take our work further. When becoming a Friend or Patron online you can also register for Gift Aid by ticking the relevant box. For every £1 given by a UK tax-paying donor, the Arts Foundation will receive an extra 25p from HMRC, at no extra cost to you.

Similarly, if you pay Income Tax at a higher or additional rate you can claim the difference between the rate you pay and the basic rate on your donation. If you want to receive the additional tax relief due, you must include all of your Gift Aid Donations on your Self-Assessment tax return or ask HMRC to adjust your tax code.

If you would like to discuss other, and or, higher-level support options to those listed, for example, supporting annual awards in your name / that of your organisation or leaving a legacy for future generations, please do contact us* (hyperlink to contact form) to arrange an informal call.

We look forward to welcoming you as a Friend and Patron of our vibrant Fourth Monkey community.
