REVOLUTIONISING
DRAMA School TRAINING

Fourth Monkey is a North London drama school and registered charity, founded in 2010, offering higher education learning with an undergraduate degree in Acting and a Level 4 CertHE foundation qualification in Acting & Theatre Making, accredited by Falmouth University. Fourth Monkey is named after Shizaru, the often overlooked fourth monkey in the famous Japanese three wise monkeys maxim of hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil; the fourth represents do no evil, or in direct translation do nothing other than good. This is the principle upon which we founded our name and operate to this day.

We are based at The Monkey House in Finsbury Park, North London (97-101 Seven Sisters Road, N7 7QJ). It is our dedicated sanctuary and house of creation

All Fourth Monkey higher education courses are accredited by Falmouth University, which provides the qualifications.

BA (Hons) Acting Accelerated (2-Year Route) and our CertHE in Acting & Theatre Making (1-Year Foundation). You can find out more about our courses and can find out how to apply.

We are a drama school designed as a working production company. Our training is ensemble-based, holistic and integrated. We provide a decolonised and internationally focused curriculum, designed to create actors with a worldview and artists with a collaborative global knowledge. We work across live and recorded mediums equally, with a view to supporting our actors in developing and defining their own individual, unique, creative voice.

Our graduates work across the industry on both stage and screen, from big-screen projects (Paramount, Disney, Amazon, Netflix, HBO, SKY) to the National Theatre, West End, Globe and international touring productions; whilst some also enter other areas of the industry as directors, producers, film/theatre makers and fight / movement specialists and movement directors alongside their acting work, whilst often forming their own companies  – a large proportion of our graduates will balance an active professional career as an actor with other roles as a creative, facilitator or collaborator enabling them to genuinely operate a sustainable career in the industry. Whilst we naturally celebrate our graduates high profile achievements across the industry, perhaps more valuable is the genuine sustainability of their careers. Fourth Monkey graduates have an excellent track record of long-term industry success and retention, and whilst this is down to their hard work and talent, we also like to think it is down to the way we’ve trained them too! Fearless actors forging sustainable careers.
