Hirer terms & conditions

In these terms and conditions:

“Hirer” means the individual or entity making the booking that is subject to these terms and conditions and where applicable, includes any guests they invite or bring into the building.

“The Venue” means Fourth Monkey Education Ltd

​

“Studio” means the studio space(s) booked as applicable to your booking.

​

“Building” means The Monkey House, 97-101 Seven Sisters Road, London N7 7QP

Payment Terms
  • One invoice for 50% of the hire amount will be due upon the agreement of the booking, and to secure the space. A further 50% is due at the start of the month of the booking. If, after the initial payment, the booking is cancelled, that payment is retained but no further payment will be due. If the cancellation is done with less than 30 days until the booking, the full payment will be retained. Notification of any cancellations must be sent to office@fourthmonkey.co.uk.

  • If the booking is made less than 30 days in advance, the entire invoice is due upon confirmation.

  • No-shows or unused booking time will not be refunded or credited.

  • Bookings are non-transferable.

  • The hirer only has use of the studio for the period of their booking and can only enter at the start of the allotted time and must vacate at the end of their allotted time. Any extra time will be charged to the hirer without notice.

  • The venue reserves the right to cancel any booking at our discretion, provided we give notice as far in advance of the booking date and time as is reasonably practicable. In the event of such cancellation, we will offer a full refund of the booking fee, but we will not be liable for any actual or consequential losses, costs, or expenses incurred by the hirer due the cancellation.

General
  • No shoes are to be worn in the building, shoe racks are provided in the entrance lobby and crocs for use of the toilets on every occasion. It is the responsibility of the hirer to inform their participants of our no shoe and crocs policy. If shoes have to be worn for rehearsal (or health) purposes, then they must be rubber sole indoor shoes with no heel.

  • Food or drink is not permitted in studios apart from water in a sealed container.

  • All individuals must sign in and out when they enter the building and must not bring any individuals on site without permission.

  • Studios must be swept with the brushes provided after use and returned to its neutral state.

  • The hirer must ensure that all studio lights are switched off at the end of their booking, doors and windows closed and the studio left tidy, safe and secure.

  • The hirer is liable for any damages caused to the studios during the hire period.

  • Any damage observed prior to the commencement of the contract should be reported to the Monkey Business office.

  • The hirer must not use, or permit the use of, the studio or any part of the building for any dangerous, offensive, noxious, noisome, illegal, or immoral activity, nor in any manner which may become a nuisance, disturbance, or annoyance to other occupiers of the building or to the surrounding neighbourhood.

  • The hirer must not obstruct any passageways, corridors, or exits within the building at any time.

  • The hirer must ensure the building entrance doors are securely closed after entry or exit of the building and that any building entrance doors are not propped open at anytime.

  • Any abusive, threatening, or inappropriate behaviour will result in immediate termination of the booking without refund.

Equipment
  • Any equipment hired must be returned to the Monkey Business office after use.

  • Any equipment brought on site must be PAT tested and BSEN certified. The venue reserves the right to disallow the use of equipment that does not meet these criteria.

  • The Venue is not liable for any loss or damage to personal property brought into the building by the hirer or their guests.

  • Equipment can only be stored onsite during and/or between hire contracts with prior agreement. This is done at the hirer’s responsibility. Where applicable, if equipment has to remain in the studio for a prolonged period, this will be charged at an extra use for exclusive use of the studio.

Insurance
  • The venue is not liable for any damages or loss of property onsite.

  • Hirers must be covered by their own Public Liability insurance.

  • The hirer is liable for any damages caused to the premises during the hire period.

  • Space may only be used during the contracted terms agreed with the venue.

Fire and Safety
  • The hirer accepts full responsibility for their own Health and Safety while on the premises insuring they are aware of the location of fire exits and first aid kits. The hirer is responsible for informing their guests of this information and always ensuring their safety including during an evacuation.

  • The consumption of Cigarettes, Alcohol and Drugs is strictly prohibited on site.

  • All fire procedures must be followed in the case of an emergency, relevant information is displayed around the building

  • Sound levels should be kept at a reasonable level with respect to others working in the venue.

Force Majeure
  • For the purposes of this Contract, a Force Majeure Event means an event beyond reasonable control (i.e. industrial strike, flooding, failure of a transport network, failure of a utility service, storm). The Company shall not be liable to the Hirer as a result of any delay or failure to perform its obligations under this contract as a result of a Force Majeure Event.
