Fighting on Film

One Day Workshop

Take the skills of Stage Combat Training and apply it to the big screen

Course Description

A one day workshop on the fundamentals of fighting for film with industry fight choreographers, Joe Golby and Keith Wallis. The pair have over two decades of combined TV and Film experience in choreographing fight sequences.

This workshop will provide you with a toolkit of information and techniques to aid your performance when performing fight scenes on screen. Using a camera as part of the workshop, you can view what the camera sees and how to give your best performance. Joe and Keith will take you through how fight scenes are choreographed and filmed, as well as what you might encounter on a film set, working with a Fight Choreographer and Director of Photography.

Suitable for those new to Stage Combat up to an intermediate level of training.

Tutors: Joe Golby and Keith Wallis

Joe has choreographed fights from the West End to award winning feature films. His television work covers both drama and documentaries for Channel 4, History Channel, Discovery, Sky & Netflix. From medieval crusades to the London riots, there’s few things Joe hasn’t choreographed, with over 60 IMDB fight choreography credits and counting.

Keith is a full time fight choreographer and stage combat tutor. Prolific in his stage work for companies such as English National Opera and English National Touring Theatre, Keith is equally accomplished on screen. This includes working with the National Film & Television School, as well as choreographing for many feature films including the recently BAFTA nominated Lady Macbeth.
